Newton is configurable to send you notifications whenever it detects odds higher than Pinnacle’s at a given moment. This applies from the opening to the closing of the bet. When you place the bet, you generate an Expected Value (EV) — the ratio between your odds and Pinnacle’s odds at that moment.
However, Pinnacle’s odds are not fixed: they change right up until the start of the event. Among all these fluctuations, it's the closing odds that most accurately reflect the true probability. That’s why it’s important to compare the odds you took with the closing odds to calculate the Closing Line Value (CLV).
More than EV, this CLV makes it possible to measure the theoretical profitability of a bet, assuming zero variance. Below, you’ll find a chart showing the EV and CLV generated from the last 5,000 value bets detected by Newton — the average monthly volume of the Diamond subscription — based on the default settings.
